The temporary flight restriction includes drones, and was imposed so that nonessential flights don’t impede or endanger flights by emergency responders that include Hawaii County Fire Department helicopters tracking and assessing eruption activity.
A drone operator was chased and tased by a ranger at Hawai’i Volcanoes National Park. The confrontation happened after park rangers say the man refused to cooperate when he was caught using a drone to video the Kilauea volcano in an area where massive crowds have been gathering at night to witness the rising lava lake.

The bird has a Naza Lite +GPS controller, 3300mAh 4S LiPo, T-motor 900kv 2216s and 9×5 Graupner E-Props. The FPV rig is a little Sony feeding a 600mW Skylark 5.8 GHz video TX, viewed with Skyzone diversity receiver goggles at the other end.”
